Who is FicklePickled?
FicklePickled aka Em is an Illustrator based in the North East of England who works primarily with digital techniques to create vibrant & cute illustrations.She specialises in illustration for comic books and children’s books. Em enjoys creating pieces that are cute from both fictional media and real-life. She seeks inspiration from her personal interests and implements these into her illustrations.She graduated with a 2:1 BA (Hons) Illustration for Commercial Application in 2025.

"Jamie" - Uni 3rd Year Final Major Project
"Jamie" is a comic book that I designed, wrote and had produced for my uni FMP. The story follows Jamie, an 18 year old girl with autism, who is set on a path of independence on her 18th birthday.
Can she overcome her fears and doubts to pursue her newfound dream?Alongside my comic, I also produced keychains, prints and posters to sell at our University's Degree Show.
"Don't be scared, Squish!" - Uni 2nd Year Final Project
"Don't be scared, Squish!" is a children's book concept that was submitted to the Macmillan Prize for Illustration in 2024. The book was based on the themes "Courage and Bravery" where a small alien named Squish lands on Earth and is shown what Earth has to offer by a bright, extroverted young girl called Lily.
2nd Year Church Christmas Projection
For this project, a group consisting of me and a few of my classmates worked alongside our local council to create illustrations and animations for the Christmas Light Switch-On. Our animations were then projected onto the church for the public to see.
"Bot & Sprout" - Uni 1st Year Final Project
"Bot & Sprout" is the name of a zine I created for my First Year Final Project. These were then sold at a Zine fair held by the university. Bot & Sprout is a story where a robot escapes from a facility in the woods. He explores the forest and notices that the nature is slowly dying. He comes across a small creature named Sprout, who he eventually befriends. With their friendship, the forests' plants begins to bloom and thrive again.
